To enhance mutual communication, exchange views and share experience on latest industry development and best practices of construction management in Hong Kong, HKICM President Cr Daniel SHUM together with fellow Council Members, including Cr CW TANG (Immediate Past President), Cr Tony ZA & Dr Cr Billy LEE (Vice President), Cr Dick LI & Cr Simon LEUNG (Honorary Secretary), Cr Johnason KO & Andy MAN (Chairman & Secretary, PR & Liaison Committee) and Cr Conrad FUNG (Chairman, Events Organization Committee) accompanied by Mr Rocky Chow (Secretary General), paid a courtesy visit to Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS). The delegates were warmly greeted by Mr Wong Kit-loong (Chief Executive Officer), Mr Frankie YEUNG (Director, Projects), Mr CHAN Wai-ming (General Manager, Maintenance), Ms Pamela WONG (Head of Corporate Communications) and Mr Gen BAI (Assistant Manager, Community Relations) at HKHS Head Office in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong on 12 April 2019 (Friday).
The meeting started with a brief introduction and update on the works, accomplishment, latest activities and development of HKICM, including establishment of the designations “Cr”, “R.C.M.” and “R.C.S.”. In return, the delegates were briefed on the major business goals of Housing Society for the coming years and the upcoming housing projects to be developed, including the five sites in Kai Tak and Anderson Road Quarry recently allocated by the Government to HKHS for public housing development.
A number of issues on the current development of the construction industry were then discussed and views exchanged, including professional qualification recognition of HKICM membership, the details on the implementation of the Construction Managers and Supervisors Registration Systems, the role and importance of front-line site management and supervisory personnel in the construction process.
The meeting was very fruitful and HKICM is pleased to establish a closer working relationship with Housing Society and certainly looks forward to future opportunities in providing professional opinions and services to Housing Society in regards to the promotion of professional excellence in construction management and enhancing the professionalism of construction personnel.
The visit ended with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photo taken at the conference room of the HKHS Head Office in Causeway Bay.
